本日はバナウェ・ライステラスをご紹介します。

バナウェ・ライステラス（コルディリェーラの棚田）はルソン島北部の山岳地邸の東斜面のイフガオ州に位置しております。

Banaue Rice Terraces is located in Ifuago, Philippines.

棚田の規模としては世界最大とも言われ、棚田の総延長は20,000kmを超えるともいわれています。1995年にユネスコの世界遺産に登録されているこの棚田は2000年ほど前に先住民の先祖によってほぼ手作業で切り開かれました。

It was carvd by the ancestors of the indigenous people, 2000 years ago and mostly done by using hands.

今日まで農場主は野菜と米を耕しています。この棚田はよく世界八番目の不思議として引き合いに出されます。２０ペソ紙幣にも印刷されていて、天国へ上る階段とも比喩されています。

Until today the farmers are still planting vegetables and rice. The Rice Terraces are commonly referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. Banaue Rice Terraces is even found on the 20 peso bill.

この棚田は年中訪れることはできますが、二月から三月の田植えの期間か作物が実る六月から七月の時期がおすすめです。

The terraces can be visited anytime of the year but the best time for a visit is between February and March when the cleaning and planting time occurs and between June and July when the harvest occurs.

もしご自身で棚田の探索を希望する場合はとても広大な場所のため迷子になりかねないので、ツアーガイドを雇うことをお勧めします。

It is best to hire a tour guide if you want to adventure yourself in the rice terraces cause you might get lost cause its very big.

棚田を見ることができる一番人気のスポットは現地のイゴロット族が写真の為にポーズをとるthe Sunrise Viewpointと呼ばれる場所です。

The most popular place to look at the rice terraces is called the Sunrise Viewpoint, where local Igorot tribes people pose for pictures.

バナウェ・ライステラスは2009年に遺伝子組み換え作物が使用されていないと宣言されました。

The rice terraces here were declared in 2009 free from any genetically modified organisms (GMO) which means its all organic and no harmful chemicals.
